A Legend from Aesop
( Issued by the BRITISH ART MEDAL SOCIETY (BAMS), 1993)
The medal refers to two of Aesop’s fables. One shows the fox telling the crow it has a beautiful voice, just to make it attempt to ‘sing’ and so drop the piece of cheese it is carrying in its beak. The other refers to the grapes the fox cannot reach, but doesn’t need to bother with as it makes off with the cheese, sour grapes.
The medal measures 87 x 80mm and was cast in bronze.
